The Historic Soddy Banking Company Building

News

The Historical Association has just completed major work at the old Soddy Bank building. We had applied for a grant with the State of Tennessee Museum in Nashville last October, and we were awarded most of the money we applied for. Two of the most important items we wanted this money for was to replace the old heating/cooling system and also to put a new roof on the 103-year-old bank building.

ABOUT SDMHA

We strive to preserve our area's rich heritage and shared history for future generations. The museum is housed in the old Soddy Banking Company building at the corner of Wall and Depot Streets. See displays and artifacts representing the local history of the Soddy, Daisy and Montlake communities. Our collection includes early settlement and frontier days, the Civil War, and the mining era and into the 20th century, charting this area's growth as a major town. Exhibits change seasonally and are rotated to cover this expanse of history.

Book #7 is the latest addition - and is all about the men and women who served in World War II from the Soddy, Daisy, Mowbray and Flattop Mountain areas. It's available at Floyd Hardware, Kays Kastle, and at the Good Old Days Museum. donation.
